You will need a valid library card to borrow items. The loan period is usually 4 weeks. Employees of the University of Cologne generally have a special loan period of 18 months without the possibility of renewal. If the book is reserved, the loan period is one month from the date of reservation. Normally borrowed media can be renewed until the maximum loan period of 6 months has been reached. This only applies to media that have not been reserved by another person. A renewal is possible from 7 days before the end of the loan period. Late fees are charged from the 1st day of the overdue loan period!

Please note: Renewals are possible after the loan period has expired. In the event of a subsequent extension, overdue fees will still be charged.

Items borrowed from us can only be returned to our library.

Reservations for borrowed items can be made via the university catalog. As soon as the reserved item is ready for you, you will be notified by e-mail. The collection period is 11 days from the day of ordering.
